The Future of Ireland captures the mood and outlook of the Irish nation at the time of its most significant centenary. We look at the future through the eyes of Irish citizens, using a rich combination of survey findings, diaries and focus groups to anticipate the future many hope for; though some fear as well.

In partnership with Amárach Research, we have captured participants hopes and fears for the future, both personally and collectively for all of us. What emerges , are a number of recurring themes about the future and these are captured in this website in articles on:

  • Hope
  • Belonging
  • Family
  • Change
  • Happiness
  • Destiny

But if there is one word that covers all of them it is Control – Irish people want to take ownership of the future rather than passively waiting for it to just happen.
